Alexander Bucheli

Alexander Bucheli

Alex has worked for 8 Years as a social worker for the youth counselling organisation Streetwork, as coordinator of the Recreational Drug Prevention program. During this work he has been involved in the following projects: On-site drug-checking, the build-up of a recreational drug-prevention-centre DIZ, the establishment of a drug-prevention-network in Switzerland and Europe and the foundation of the association ‘Safer Clubbing’.

Rene Akeret

René Akeret

René Akeret was born 1959 and has been working for over 20 years in the field of drug addiction and HIV/Aids. At present he’s managing a harm reduction organization and works independently as a project manager for Safer Clubbing Switzerland as well as a Coach/Advisor.

Karen Hughes

Karen Hughes

Karen is Head of Behavioural Epidemiology at the Centre for Public Health ( Liverpool John Moores University ) where she manages a team of researchers examining issues relating to nightlife, nightlife tourism, alcohol use and violence. She is a member of the WHO Violence Prevention Alliance and the European IREFREA research collaboration exploring nightlife, substance use and sexual behaviour among young people.

Thomas Egli

Thomas Egli was born 1954 and has been working for over 17 years with addicted men in a socio-pedagogic field. At present he works for the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, as a senior policy advisor, responsible for Therapy and Harm Reduction.

Peter Menzi

Peter Menzi

Peter has been working in harm reduction for the past 10 years. He is currently project manager of a national campaign on Hepatitis C for drug users and professionals in the field of addiction aid. He is involved in many additional projects for the promotion of harm reduction across Switzerland .

Amador Calafat

Amador Calafat

Amador Calafat is a Psychiatrist working in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. He has been actively involved in research and implementation of programmes in risk behaviour and drug prevention since 1980, He is the coordinator of the European research group IREFREA which conducts cross-national investigation of youth risk behaviour and substance use in nightlife settings. He is also the editor of the journal Adicciones.

Paul Dillon

Paul Dillon

Paul Dillon has been working in alcohol and other drug field for over 20 years and has worked in the club health area for much of that time. He has been involved in a wide range of reearch projects investigating the use of ecstasy, ketamine and GHB and was an investigator on a WHO study examining cocaine use in Australia. Though his own business, Drug and Alcohol Research and Trainig Australia (DARTA) he has been contracted by many organisations to give regular updates on current drug trends. He has also just completed a book "Teenagers, Alcohol and Drugs" which was released in Australia in February 2009.

Matej Kosir

Matej Kosir

Matej Kosir graduated in political science at University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). He has worked in the field of drugs and drug addiction for last 8 years. He works at the Office for Drugs within the Ministry of Health. Recently he established a private institute (Utrip) for research and development of programmes especially in the field of preventing youth risk behaviour. He is involved in several European research and educational projects co-financed by the European Commission. He is also EDDRA (Exchange on Drug Demand Reduction Action) manager and Legal Correspondent for Slovenia in connection with the EMCDDA (European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction).

Ninette van Hasselt

Ninette van Hasselt is the project manager of the Clubs and Drugs project at the Trimbos Institute - Netherlands Institute of Mental Health and Addiction. Her key role is to coordinate the development and dissemination of research based interventions to regional professionals involved in substance abuse prevention. Van Hasselt has been involved in public health for over 15 years, with a particular focus on campaigns and on clubbing and health.

Rudolf Stohler

PD Dr. med Rudolf Stohler

Since twelve years, Ruedi has been the head of the substance use disorders units (out- and in-patients) at the Psychiatric University Clinic in Zurich, Switzerland. Apart from his clinical work, he has written numerous publications in scientific journals and books, principally dealing with heroin- and cocaine dependence.

Sophie Arnaud

Sophie first studied pharmacy in Lausanne (Switzerland), then made a diploma in Public health in Nancy (France). She's working since eight years at the Lausanne University Institute of Social and Preventive Medecine. She's specially  involved in evaluations and researches in the field of drugs addiction, some of them concerning the nightlife setting.
